Client Group Director

The Role The role of the Client Group Director is to be the key point of contact for our clients and to develop strong communication recommendations across all channels, paid, owned and earned. Responsible for driving & leading a successful client relationship and a results driven team. Bringing together the right people, to deliver the highest quality of outputs for your client, end to end, ensuring deliverables are grounded in client priorities.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
People
- Openly communicate and collaborate with all internal key stakeholders and reports regularly
- Hold regular performance evaluation meetings with reports throughout the year, setting SMART KPIs and creating a clear career development plan with them.
- Review your team's training needs to make sure their career plans are aligned to their progression. Responsible for training and development of all members of the team.
- Responsible for overseeing workflow between all members of the team and escalating any issues.
- Has expert knowledge and understanding of the wider agency structure, knowing when to tap into resource to enhance work.
- Owns the team WIP and is across the detail of current campaigns and future plans
- Direct the team’s workload and prioritisation to produce the best results for your clients
Clients
- Establish a deep understanding of client challenges, objectives & initiatives.
- Build on the agency's reputation for outstanding client service.
- Build strong and enduring client relationships at a senior level.
- Provide innovative strategic insights by acting as an expert on the client's business, industry and competitors
- Seek out reformist ways to keep clients informed on relevant developments and changes to media landscape and media partners informed on client priorities and client partnership opportunities.
- A complete strategic view of the client business e.g. market share, purchase barriers, key competitors, drivers, tasks
- Works alongside the client and agency partners to provide best-case outcomes using the agency resources effectively
- Use language which aligns with the client’s business and understanding to ensure there is comprehension of the solution across the business
- Works collaboratively with the client supporting their requests to Wavemaker and managing the process and timelines
- Clear understanding of the in-scope services of the client and the process for completing work above and beyond.
- Full view of the process of how the client works to get projects signed off and what is required
- Be the first point of contact when it comes your clients marketing and business challenges
- Owns all communication to the client, making sure that all parties are aligned, actively looks for and seeks out misunderstanding/ miscommunication.
Product
- Engage with internal product teams including GroupM proprietary product and service teams to ensure you have an understanding about their offerings and relevance to our clients.
- Demonstrates an obsession for Provocative Planning and how it benefits our clients
- Full understanding and comprehension of the client brief and ability to discuss it internally with the broader client team.
- Leverage industry and agency suite of tools to aid planning, including the development of target audience, brand, growth priorities, insights, role of channel and channel priorities.
- Confident in your knowledge of media planning principles (e.g. scheduling, flighting, recency, effective reach theories, seasonality, market prioritisation, roles of all communication channels)
- Always seek to raise the benchmark for the quality of the product going to your client
- Brings innovation and creativity to the table, leveraging insights from across the market.
- Seek to find, communicate and implement improvements in all aspects of the role.
- Deliver a well-informed POV in every meeting, providing innovative strategic insights by acting as an expert in your craft.
Growth & Marketing
- Be a Wavemaker spokesperson on industry subjects with a strong, high profile and positive reputation and personality in the market. Be a positive face of Wavemaker at industry events.
- Collaborate closely with your Manager to identify, collate and showcase examples of great work from within the team, both internally and externally.
- Build the agency’s reputation by contributing to entries for awards and competitions
- Contribute to thought leadership across the agency’s owned assets (Website, Social, EDM’s etc.)
- Share relevant and insightful commentary internally, for the broader agency.
- Develop market leading profile via strong relationships internally and externally
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven capability in managing a large diverse team
- Passion for media and marketing
- Strong, up to date, media landscape knowledge (confidently able to articulate macroeconomic and consumer trends and forecast challenges/opportunities for clients).
- Inspiring communicator with clear written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the patience to examine detail and create solutions.
- Collaborative and astute - able to build trust and respect within a network.
- Results Driven. Passionate about delivering business results for clients, with the ability to identify and clearly articulate what’s working and why.
